For comparison, we can enjoy a first-class rib dinner at a steakhouse in the small, rural town of Albany for $20-$28, which includes a choice of salad and potato, and they consistently serve high-quality beef. To the owners and managers of Golden Ox: please take these reviews as constructive feedback. They are meant to help enhance your business rather than provoke defensiveness. I share my insights based on experience in the beef industry and genuinely hope to give your restaurant another chance, as it is a Kansas City icon.

We really wanted to enjoy this restaurant more than we actually did. The ambiance and service were excellent, and our server Craig went above and beyond. The crab remover was fantastic, but I’m not sure about the “famous” baked potato. The shrimp cocktail was just okay, while the spinach was tasty but a bit runny. Unfortunately, both of our steaks, which we ordered medium rare, were disappointing—my fillet was tough and dry, and my friend's ribeye was overcooked.

Absolutely fantastic! I've traveled all around the globe, and this restaurant ranks second on my list. My wife adores red meat even more than she loves me, so you can imagine how thrilled she was, which in turn made me happy. I'll definitely be returning, but I'll make sure to space out my visits for three days to fully appreciate this amazing culinary experience.

Excellent service, excellent food, but funny overpriced. Steaks, a glass of wine and two beers cost me $263 for two people. The steak was certainly delicious, but really, so many are. Nothing special to justify the nose blood high price. I would have this same dinner with the same or better quality in any row of steak houses, like Roadhouse, Longhorn even Outback.

It is a good restaurant, had to send my steak back for being undercooked, asked for medium, (not rare) not really impressed. I don't think the flavor justifies the price. Sorry, I really wanted this trip to he better. 25 min. drive for an undercooked steak, just not impressed.
