Portia's Cafe - Kansas City

This place is fantastic! A tiny hole in the wall that is easy to miss while driving by. It was filled with construction workers at 11:30 am and I see why! Best breakfast around and the prices cannot be beat! The owner, Portia, came out and asked each table how they were and if the food was good. She was a doll! The server, Kenna, is the best and a total doll too! She calls everyone friend and makes you feel like family. I highly recommend this place!

I can tell this place is like all family, it reminds me of the citcom called 'Cheers ' where everybody knows your name. The regulars that come everyday that I picked up on is someone named Junior who is super friendly and pays for some of the other regulars that come in, also I noticed the tow truck drivers have THE BEST stories everyone was ease dropping These don 't have to order the waitress already knows what to bring them (SO COOL) The food is like at home, my co-workers love their omelettes, I had the chicken plate special. Small but big enough to serve everyone that walks through the door, everyone is treated like family.

The hospitality in Portia's is outstanding! Family owned; these ladies make you feel like you're part of their family also. The food is excellent with large portions for the price you pay. I recommend trying to sweet tea. It's the best!

Oh my, this place was a delight! I love it when we can find the local mom and pop places! The staff was super, so friendly and helpful. Portia's granddaughter was our server and she was wonderful! Grandma Portia (owner) came out from the kitchen and visited with us briefly, such a sweet woman! The food was awesome, hubby got the meatloaf meal and I had the chili dog meal (two oversized sausages) with chili and Fritos, YUM! Got pecan and pumpkin pie slices to go, and they were delicious. Someone knows how to make a great crust! Good prices. Clientel was friendly and everyone was familiar, a refreshing atmosphere! Highly recommend, navigation was a little confusing, but Google got us there from I 70.
