The Pineapple Room - Kapaa

Amazing food, and worth the wait. Everything I ordered was an experience (Guava empanadas, mahi bowl, plantain rice and beans bowl). Ambiance is Cuban street restaurant small number of tables inside, several outside with nice overhead fans to stay cool. Staff was really friendly. 100% worth stopping by.

I struggle to see why this restaurant has received such positive reviews. In my experience, the rice was overly soggy and the black beans lacked seasoning. The meat was decent, but the empanadas were extremely dry—requiring a lot of sauce just to make them edible. I’m giving it two stars because the portion size was reasonable for the price and the establishment was very clean. However, it's quite unusual for a place with seating not to have a restroom.

Great service and a lovely location! Unfortunately, they had run out of fish, so we opted for the vegetarian option. The plantains were delicious, and there was plenty of rice, but there weren't enough beans. It could be improved for vegetarians.
