Shanghai Chinese Cafe - KATHERINE SOUTH

Last night, we arrived in Katherine and stumbled upon this hidden gem of a restaurant that made us incredibly pleased. We had a great conversation with the owner, his two enthusiastic young employees, and I believe his mother, who was the chef! We enjoyed delicious, fresh Chinese cuisine while sipping on some bubbly at Discovery Caravan Park. It was a delightful meal to top off a nice journey from Kakadu. Thank you.

I have been spoiled with amazing Chinese cuisine in the past, but unfortunately, this restaurant fell short. The service was great, but the food was lacking in flavor. We ordered four dishes, but ended up leaving them unfinished because they were not enjoyable. The staff were lovely and welcoming, but we were hoping for a better dining experience. I hate to say it, but I have to be honest.

Located on the main street of Katherine, this remarkable Chinese restaurant serves incredibly delicious food. The spicy pig and Chinese greens were exceptional, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and sincere.

Of the 2 Chinese restaurants in Katherine, this is definitely the best. The portions are of great value with lots of meat in the dishes. If there are remnants, they are still great to eat cold even without the fatness found with remnants from the other Chinese restaurant. Of the few takeaway alternatives in Katherine, this is by far one of the best.

Some dishes just stay in your taste memory and the wonton soup at the Shanghai is one of them . It is quite simple a very tasty stock, wontons, Bok Choy and cubes of ham and I Love it. So much so that I...had it for lunch nearly every day I was in Katherine. The steamed pork dim sims are also delicious.
