The Paragon - Katoomba

It was like being back in the 1960's when my mum and grandmother used to bring me here on special weekends up from Sydney. The booths, the decor and the meals were just as I remembered, even the epic milk shakes. The food is great, the service friendly - the setting a blast from the past - a great experience, well preserved (and PS the chocolates and sweets are wonderful too).

If you are travelling through this is a must. Fabulous old building with a proud heritage and passionate staff. Try the citrus cake and chocolates.

This place is like stepping back in time, the owner was wonderful, she was so passionate about her business and showed us around the building and the art deco rooms at the back. She was very interesting and really loved this place, it was a real delight to see someone so passionate about keeping an old traditional café and its heritage alive. She really knew about the history of the place and really wants to share that history with her customers, it is not often you come across this. And of course, the chocolate and cakes were amazing!

Great old style cafe in the main street of Katoomba, is over 100 years old. They still have the odd show a blue room at the back of the cafe, next show is a drag queen show with Wayne Rogers, who i have heard is a good show. This visit i found the food a bit below good , but quantity was good.

So much history and well worth a look round the back, where there is a small theatre. The best high tea - home-cooked scones and cream...
