Toro Pub - Katunayaka

It was a nice place go be at and chill for the evening, the food could use more variety in the vegetarian options, but overall was good with what we ordered.

This large restaurant looks great from outside but clearly a problem with air con or ventilation. So stuffy lack of any atmosphere. No enthusiasm or personalities from Servers. Went twice for a drink and both times decided not to stay for dinner.

We went in here on our only night in Negombo but would certainly have gone back if we were staying longer. It’s a very local place so all the crowd were singing along to the tunes played by the band. The atmosphere was great and we didn’t want to leave.

Several times we had already passed by Toro restaurant and it looked cozy and busy. That's why we decided to eat there with friends. In the beginning it was okay, the Calipso country music is not my favorite, but it was nice to have a drink together. The menu is very extensive and we were surprised that there were so many meat dishes. We chose the Sizzling Beef. After a while they came with a lot of show and put the cast iron pans and the flambé steak on the table. What should have been a feast soon turned out to be a misery. They had fried a piece of meat on one side and then closed it. It was not possible to cut the meat with the special steak knife. We asked the cook to come to the table, but he looked surprised and did not say anything. We asked for the plates to be removed and the menu again so we could order something else. It was not nice that our friends already had their food while waiting quite a long time. When my meat burger came I was totally amazed. Lots of bread, lettuce, onion, tomato, an egg and after a lot of searching I found an overcooked hamburger of 5 cm in diameter. Luckily we were in good company because the visit to Toro was absolutely not successful. The waiters who served us were sympathetic, probably didn't understood why we complained. The manager should have understood this, but he did nothing. We definitely don't recommend this restaurant unless all you're looking for is a beer and a very simple dish... if the kitchen doesn't screw this up too

Super awesome vibes with an excellent Calipso band playing... Food was so yummy n the portions were fairly large.. Extremely helpfull staff and undoubtedly the best Pub on the beach road, negombo
