Feedback gevenA truly unforgettable experience, thanks to Rose and Patrick. You enter this “secret” restaurant through a beautifully maintained back garden. The decor is a delightful mix of eclectic, international, and quirky elements, yet it feels warm and welcoming. The food we had was among the best in Scotland, featuring spectacular dishes such as venison, haggis (remarkably, the best haggis we tried in Scotland was made by a French chef!), and partridge terrine. While you shouldn't expect the overly effusive friendliness typical of American culture, you'll encounter genuine warmth and kindness here. After our meal, Patrick took the time to share where he sources his ingredients and described how he lovingly prepares each dish, some of which involve several days of preparation. Rose and Patrick truly made my husband's sixtieth birthday an exceptional evening for us in Scotland. We will definitely return on our next visit to Islay.
When you have a chef who truly cares about food and a hostess who cares about people, you know you've found a winning combination. The food was incredible, thanks to the chef's talent! The inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home adds to the experience. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
We discovered this restaurant on TripAdvisor and were thrilled with our choice. It felt like stepping into a cozy private club, with an intimate atmosphere and wonderfully eclectic decor. By the end of the evening, the husband and wife owners felt like old friends. He is French and an incredible chef, while she is British and full of charm. This was the best dinner we had during our time in Scotland.
You can't get a table here without a reservation, and you'll need to select your menu a few days ahead of time so that the chef can create the best dishes for you. However, it’s absolutely worth it. The food is fantastic, made from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, with an emphasis on attention to detail. The service is excellent, and the wine and drink prices are quite reasonable as well.
My husband and I had an absolutely delightful dinner at Seven Stills during our trip to Dufftown (we're from Los Angeles)! It exceeded all my expectations. Rose and Patrick truly open their home and kitchen to you, making you feel welcomed from the moment you enter through the charming yard until you leave. Rose is a fantastic hostess, and Patrick embodies the essence of a French chef. The passion he pours into his cooking is unmistakable, and his enthusiasm for food is infectious. We plan to visit Rose and Patrick every time we come to Dufftown. We fell in love with the town and aim to return as often as possible!
