Hong Kong Restaurant - Kelowna

Our family stopped here for lunch around 11:30, it seemed to have just opened, but the buffet was just being filled as we were seated. It was fresh, no sign of pre cooked leftovers, the soup was hot, the mixed vegetables were hot and fresh. The dessert bar was simple but fresh, I even found the ice cream to put on top of the apple pie slab.

The chicken looks pre cooked and then thrown in a wok with sauce...like the microwave chicken at the Wokbox.. not sliced thin and stir fried fresh like a normal Chinese restaurant!! The meat in the pork dumplings is mystery meat...too light for pork ...too dark for chicken..it's a mystery to me. They are terrible. It was not a good meal to say the least.

The food was greasy and tasteless. The meat was tough and sinewy. We got 4 dishes that came to $60 and threw 90% of it in the garbage. There are much better places in town to pick from.

If looks could kill, this review would be worse. I had a wonton soup and a number 2, deep fried shrimp, sweet and sour pork, chicken chow neon. The soup was first and it looked so plain, just wontons and a sprinkling of green onion. 1st taste of broth and my eyebrows shot up in surprise, very tasty and the wontons themselves kicked it over again, very tasty!!! So tasty that when my food arrived before I was done, I felt a little put out lol, and I finished my wonton soup. The chowmein was fresh, a tad greasy but tasted good and was fat with nice bite sized pieces of chicken. The Sweet and Sour Pork was like ginger beef, the meat cooked fall apart crispy and then into that standard sweet sauce, really nice. The shrimp were stock, same as every damned Chinese food place I've ever been and that was disappointing. All in all, a 14$ plate and I did not feel taken. I'd go back for that tasty wonton, order the war and get some toys in it.

Deep fried with a side order of deep fried. If you like your Chinese food to be all the same flavour and deep fried, then you will enjoy.. Otherwise give it a miss
