We came across a hidden gem with a straightforward and tasty menu offering entrecôte, fries, and salad, perfect for our diverse group of diners.
FOOD: Outstanding. One dish concept restaurant that serves Entrecôte Café De Paris in it 's secret sauce with fries. The entrecôte is high quality meat aged for 28 days and the secret Café De Paris sauce is divine IT IS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE FOOD. This is a very special sauce and is very different from the common Café De Paris butter which is more a herb butter roll : nowhere nearly as good as this : placed on top of your cut of meat. This is exquisite and was originally conceived in the 1930 's in Geneva: yes, Café De Paris is from Switzerland not France. You get up to 3 helpings of fries and you might well need at least two because you want to finish every drop of that sauce!!! Fries are fresh and appear to be made in house so they are pretty good. Starter includes a simple green salad with vinaigrette dressing and a bread roll I quite liked it actually. There is a small selection of Desserts like Paris Brest Hazelnut Ice Cream, Tart Tatin, Cheese platter etc. I tried the Paris Brest Hazel Nut Ice Cream with coffee and enjoyed it. The only thing to note is that Café Gourmand is different here i.e. it is one dessert item coffee than in Paris where you normally have a small selection of sweet treats served with the coffee. STAFF: Pleasant and helpful. Good service. AMBIANCE: Classic decor. Wood paneling, warmly lit by a bouquets of lamps, wooden furnishing with red leather wall sofas, pleasant art work. Spacious and although busy rarely crowded. PRICE: £30 $45 total for starter salad main course non alcoholic drink 12.5% service charge. Desserts are around £6 $10. Beers are £4 £6 : $6.50 $10 : . LOCATION: On Brompton Road right opposite the Brompton Oratory. This part of Brompton Road is almost like a street just off the main Brompton Road : that 's where the Oratory is, and further down you 'll Harrod 's : . Very central about 5 10 min. walk from South Kensington and Knightsbridge tube stations. OTHER NOTES: You can book tables at Open Table.com. There is another joint called Relais De Venise which also serves Entrecôte Cafe De Paris and has 3 different locations in London i.e. Marylebone, Canary Wharf and the Financial District. Going by their website their just a bit : ~5% : less in terms of price but I haven 't tried them yet but that 's another option if you 're in those areas. Just note that this Café De Paris will almost certainly taste different : probably good but definitely different : because these recipes are considered secret and no two restaurants sauces will taste the same. If you 're in Zurich, Switzerland check out Restaurant La Côte in the Wiedikon area : Aemtlerstrasse I think : for another great tasting version of Café De Paris sauce. I 've been there several times they 're very good : but again sauce tastes different : too. OVERALL: A must. Great value considering the quality and taste of the food.
I recently brought a client to Chez Boubier in order to impress them and have a great meal, and I'm happy to say that I accomplished both goals! The food and service were exceptional. We were greeted by a knowledgeable and attentive waitress who explained the wine menu and made excellent recommendations. After we finished our main course, Nicolas, who I believe is the manager, came to our table and introduced himself, explaining the restaurant's concept. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience and I will definitely be returning in the future.
We visited the restaurant randomly for lunch and it was great choice! We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We had the best possible host Youcef who took us through the history of the place and the food they serve. He was very helpful and friendly through our stay. The food was very tasty. We'll definitely visit the restaurant again.
