There were several issues, including accessibility concerns for a woman in a wheelchair, an unsecured pergola that nearly toppled over, and a lack of preparedness for the busy Mother's Day brunch. Guests had to wait for food to be replenished at the buffet, and plates were often unavailable. Additionally, the service was slow, with one guest's coffee being filled with grounds and taking a long time to be exchanged for a new cup. The food quality varied, with some dishes being good while others were overly cheesy. Despite some positive reviews on Yelp, our overall experience at Dogwood Cafe was disappointing and not worth recommending.
I dined at this restaurant for the first time and tried the Sunday brunch at around 10 AM. The decor is lovely, with several small tables and a bar. The food was delicious, and I would definitely return to sample other items on the menu if I am in the area again.
After the 5K race, we went to this adorable restaurant. The food was both fresh and delicious. We were seated upstairs, which was a bit dark, so we had to go downstairs for more coffee. The old building was a bit chilly and located close to the train tracks. Despite these minor issues, I would definitely return again!
I booked a reservation through OpenTable (and received an email confirmation) for our Mother's Day brunch for four. Upon arriving, the manager's greeting was, "Are you the one who booked a reservation at last night She said that she had texted me. I told her I had not received a text. She disappeared and came back with her phone to 'prove' she'd texted. She asked if the phone number was correct. It wasn't. She then wandered over to a table for two, calling over if it would be ok. Not wanting to wait without reservations elsewhere, we opted to squeeze in. Here's how the remainder of our time at Dogwood Cafe went (brace yourselves I truly am not exaggerating) : *Not ADA friendly a woman in a automatic wheelchair tried to back up from her table, the control got stuck under the lip of the table, pulling her into the table behind her (she was pretty shaken). *The pergola is not secured to the cement floor when one leans on it, as our neighbor did when trying to help the woman, it slipped a bit across the floor. *The cafe offers brunch, so one would think they'd anticipate a hectic Mother's Day brunch. However, when one group went to the buffet, people stood waited for more food to replace what had been depleted. When staff did come, guests repeatedly had to inform them there were no plates. *If one wants coffee refilled, be patient. While taking one's cup away, one guest at a time, to refill it behind the counter is lovely on a typical day, this was really not the day for it. When the sweet waitress brought my dad's coffee, she noticed there were lots of grounds, so she took it away immediately. About minutes later when we could catch her eye, she brought back a new cup. *Some of the food was good, like the blintzes, other food was laden with cheddar cheese. *We know to wrap things up on such a busy day. No kidding, the manager asked us to move to the bar to finish our almost full cups of coffee. Great reviews on Yelp surreal experience
First time eating here...tried the Sunday brunch around AM. It's nicely decorated with a few small tables and a bar. The food is good and I would go back to try other menu items in the future if in the area
