Clark's Barbecue - Kernersville

Find a surprise. Always looking for BBQ when we travel, we happened at this point on the way to Myrtle Beach. Good food and good service are nowadays a rare pleasure. The course of chopped pork BBQ was excellent (Lexington style, I let others argue the success of different styles). My wife took our children outside to get Wiggles out (4 hours in the car) and the waitress saw them out and asked if they had to fill up on their drink and told her that the food was coming. To round it off, the 20-year-old even knew who Robert Plant was.

Be hungry when you come here. Be very hungry. First of all, let me just say that this is not a place where you will want to go if you are not hungry, are a neat eater, are trying to lose weight, or are looking for fancy. This is one of the best BBQ joints I've eaten at in a very long time. Living in the south, I know about BBQ. This restaurant is up at the top of my BBQ restaurants list. We had a group of 7. Plates varied from pulled pork BBQ, BBQ beef brisket, chopped BBQ, and ribs. All were plates in huge portions, and tasted like heaven. Hush puppies were perfect. BBQ slaw and fries were also amazing. I had an Arnold Palmer to keep it real and it was great. I would recommend this place if you're looking for some true Carolina barbeque.

For a change of pace I also ordered a coarsely cut sandwich that claimed the menu “real grill” for “true grill aficionados”. I was a little confused by the claim if it also has the hacked classic Lexington style and the slimmer cut options. In any case, I found it a bit unhandy to eat, with the larger pieces too big for the now soggy book, and thus easily fall out with every bite.

A small local BBQ with Lexington style pit BBQ I visited and ordered BBQ plate it was so good. The meat was tender and juicy not dry meat here. I ordered the cabbage it was fork tender and fresh it would definitely reorder the Koleslaw is small dice and has exactly the right taste and was cool crisp and fresh. What looks like onion rings is the version of hush puppies was hot and fresh. I was glad to give this place an attempt and look forward to my next visit to the area. Open until 0900 check it out.

Best BBQ in Northern America! Beans and slaw are delicious as well. Generous portions and friendly staff! Took away a star because the brisket wasn’t good….and I love brisket!
