Located on the northern edge of Kernersville, this convenience store features a small grill and four small tables for seating. The atmosphere is busy and noisy, with people coming in and out constantly and a buzzer sounding each time the door opens. The sandwiches we ordered, including a Hot Dog with mustard and chili onions, a loaded single Cheeseburger, and a Philly Cheese Steak, were all very satisfying. We got two combo meals, and the fries were delicious, although they could have used a bit more salt. Unfortunately, our fountain Diet Pepsi drinks were not great, as the mixture seemed off. The Hot Dog was topped with tasty chili and a good quality wiener. The Burger was well-proportioned with a nice flavor and a crispy crust from the grill. The Cheese Steak was exceptional, packed with beef, cheese, onions, peppers, and mushrooms on a soft bun. We would definitely order all three items again. Jose, the staff member who assisted us, was friendly and attentive. Despite the noise and heat in the restaurant, we chose to dine in and Jose brought our food to the table with a smile. Next time, we might opt for takeout due to the uncomfortable atmosphere. Overall, if you're in need of a quick, tasty meal in Kernersville, this little grill offers excellent options.
Jerry and I met Jose, Customer Service Award Winner, who has been cooking at the Low Price Mart The Grill for 15 years when we had lunch on Valentine 's Day. We started with a Philly Chicken Cheesesteak. The crusty roll could not contain the caramelized onions, charred chicken, tender mushrooms, sautéed peppers, and melted cheese. The well balanced condiments on the Hot Dog all the way complimented the meaty dog and still emerged on their own right (bold onions yellow mustard, sweet slaw, and a seasoned zingy chili). Every single slice of potato in our order of Homemade Chips was golden brown and crisp. The sweet Onion Rings had a wonderful crunch, and their potato wedges are on my radar for next time. When we saw the Double Bacon Cheeseburger, our jaws dropped which was actually a good thing because I don 't think this gargantuan burger would have fit into our mouths otherwise. So much bacon! I 'm not complaining. That was a happy chant Jerry and I kept saying over and over as we ate our lunch. The burgers were moist and juicy on the inside with a good char on the outside from the flat top grill. Topped with American cheese and stacked on a sesame seed bun, we enjoyed ours with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayonnaise. The next time you 're on the road, set a course for The Grill and fill 'er up. Check out our Food and Brew Review blog for the Eat Here and Get Gas review at
The highlight of this establishment was The Grill, but unfortunately it is now closed. It is disappointing as the food was good.
While on a business trip in the neighborhood for a few days, I was persuaded by my colleagues to order lunch from the nearby Low Price Mart. They couldn't stop praising the burgers, so I decided to try one myself. I opted for a cheeseburger with mustard, chili, slaw, and onions. Honestly, it was just okay - the chili and slaw were scarce and lacked flavor, leaving me a bit disappointed. However, my coworkers who ordered the double bacon cheeseburger seemed to enjoy it more. When we returned to Low Price Mart for a second visit later in the week, I decided to try the Philly Chicken Sandwich instead, and it was fantastic. Loaded with chicken, peppers, onions, mushrooms, and cheese on a delicious sub roll, it was a definite home run. Overall, I would give my burger 2 stars and the Philly Chicken Sandwich 5 stars.
