Our waitress, Kristen, was exceptionally nice and did an amazing job serving all of us by herself, which was quite impressive given the size of our group. Everyone loved their food and noted that the BBQ is some of the best they’ve ever had, which is high praise from a group of South Carolina natives. The selection of cocktails, wine, and beer was also a hit. Our group made several custom requests for the food, and everything came out perfectly. I can’t say enough good things about this place. If you come across any negative reviews, take them with a grain of salt—Cherrywood is the real deal, and you won’t be disappointed.
I didn't have the best experience at this restaurant. While our waitress was attentive, she wasn't very friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant, with a nice view of the golf course, but we were bothered by a lot of gnats. We ordered the lobster hush puppies, which were tasty, and a combination platter to share. However, I have a low tolerance for spicy food, and nothing on the menu we chose was labeled as spicy. Unfortunately, the mac and cheese and the BBQ rub (on the pork shoulder brisket) turned out to be quite spicy, making it difficult for me to enjoy my meal. My boyfriend mentioned that he thought the food was good overall, but not exceptional. Additionally, I made a reservation by phone and mentioned it was my birthday. The staff indicated they would note it, but there was no acknowledgment of it during our visit. For a $100 dinner, I believe there are better dining options available on the island.
I had a fantastic meal at this restaurant. The service was outstanding, and the views of the golf course were lovely.
I'll be honest, it's a pretty location and all but it should remove BBQ and Ale House from it's name entirely. The BBQ was really sad for $35 a plate.....dry, tough, etc. The wet ribs had a good sauce but we're still very disappointing for a place known for BBQ . On that topic, the rib-eye was sad as well. It reminded me of a frozen solid, quarter pound ribeye that you'dget smothered in gravy at waffle house. Oh, did I mention it was actually smothered in sauce? Any $50 dollar steak should NOTcome smothered in sauce and should be thicker than a blade of grass. Don't believe me? Ask halls. Scallops were good. Saladswere good. But you're a BBQ place and do worse that a $10 a plate BBQ place.
Excellent BBQ and Brisket and a hearty Brunswick Stew. A good selection of local beers. Enjoyed a Bull Rider lager ... quite the refreshment in the middle of a steamy day
