The Rose was the only restaurant still serving food and we were glad we found it. They offered a great deal on a full meal including appetizer, main course, and dessert with a bottle of wine. We decided to try it and were pleasantly surprised. The wings and Goat cheese tart for starters were delicious. My fiancé had the dried tomato stuffed chicken and I had the Carbonara for the main course, both were amazing. The chicken was cooked perfectly with a tasty sauce and the potatoes were great. The Carbonara was the best pasta dish I've ever had. We were so excited to eat more that we burned our mouths a few times. The Baileys cheesecake for dessert was unique and delicious, with a light and fluffy filling and a thick, salty-sweet crust. We will definitely be visiting The Rose again when we return to Ireland next year, even if it's not in our plans. The atmosphere was nice with lots of windows to people-watch, and it was romantic for couples. The menu mainly consists of French and Italian dishes with some Irish favorites mixed in.
This restaurant, The Rose Cafe, is owned by Langtons who also own Langtons Hotel on John Street in Kilkenny. They also have another restaurant called The Loft upstairs in The Hub. The Rose Cafe was a great find for a delicious Full Irish Breakfast, which included sausages, bacon, black and white pudding, eggs, toast, and a pot of tea or coffee, all for a reasonable price. The restaurant was clean, with staff in uniform who were courteous, efficient, and pleasant. There were many breakfast options to choose from, and the scrambled eggs looked particularly appealing. The restaurant seemed popular, judging by the number of people there during our visit. They also serve lunches with a daily carvery. We also checked out The Loft, which is a more upscale version of The Rose Cafe but offers a similar menu. Overall, Langtons The Rose Cafe is a great spot for any occasion. Well done Langtons!
