Major Colgan's - Killarney

A remarkable selection of food was served buffet-style from two stations, making it easy for attendees to enjoy. Major Colgan’s gastropub proved to be the perfect venue for our large private gathering, while also serving the public and hotel guests at other times. It’s an excellent spot for both casual dining and larger events. Our heartfelt compliments go to the chefs, kitchen staff, and all the bar and wait staff who provided an outstanding spread. Everyone at MRC is already excited for our next event! Once again, thank you for a wonderful evening on behalf of the MRC committee.

Dinner was included in our Muckross Hotel package, so we didn't have high expectations, but we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, with comfortable seating and delicious food. The bar was well-stocked and the drinks were served quickly. The service was exceptional, accommodating our allergies and special requests beyond our expectations. I forgot to take photos of our meals, but I assure you, both the presentation and quality were excellent.

We're staying at the hotel and didn't feel like traveling, so we decided to give this restaurant a try. We had some reservations based on certain reviews, but there was no need to worry! Rachel provided us with excellent service, and we thoroughly enjoyed both the burger and the fish and chips. They were served hot and tasted exceptional. Great job, everyone!

Colgan's has had slow service for quite a time. The wait staff are lovely but they are behind the bar, taking orders and delivering food. So it is inefficient. Waited 15 minutes for 3 drinks and it was not busy at the time. I asked could we order an adult portion of chicken tenders and chips for my son from the kids menu. We were charged 19 euros for just chicken tenders and chips. The goats cheese salad was extremely disappointing, no flavour or finesse about it. The burger and the soup were lovely but expensive for what they were. So disappointing, close to home and would love to call it my local but going to give it a skip from now on.

My husband and I had a late lunch here after visiting Muckross Abbey. Plenty of parking available in the adjacent parking lot. Convenient location near Muckross Abbey and Jaunting Cart stop. My tomato and macroom mozzarella focaccia was hearty and tasty. My husband enjoyed the Wild Atlantic seafood chowder and brown bread. It was a nice meal.
