There's plenty of staff and waiting time was rather short. Calamari were served with a sauce they were tasty when eating separately, however both flavours don't match together. The hotel and the surroundings are impressive. Be prepared to spot some deer.
There are indeed clearly marked vegetarian / vegan options on the menu, there are only not very many of them as you can expect in this type of restaurant. I had the fetters with chili garlic sauce. Without the chili, I could have done it anyway, and the pasta was an al-leather than I want, but it wasn't terrible. The service was also quite slow. Chips and other sides were good, my meat eating parents enjoyed their meals. We ate outside and had a great view of the lake with swans and many other birds as well as the small ruins of a castle make a very picturesque environment.
Very bad choice of options only 2 main courses on the menu of the restaurant, of which a potato peel was filled. The dessert option was vegan panacotta, which was fine. The Bistro (Bar) menu has only a vegan main option (a dahl) and a fetters that could be made vegan. The fetters were dry, stiff and very strongly aromatized. The Dahl was okay, the cauliflower might have been hotter. No Starter or Dessert options on this menu. As for vegan breakfast, to say it is a cooked breakfast is a joke pampering the portions a day. It consisted of a dry chickpea cake with hummus, a Portobello mushroom and a grilled tomatoes. I was not informed by the staff if there is milk free milk or yogurt available. On my last day I heard a waiter who said there was a pot, so I asked him for some who was made with water, as the cook informed that it had long been made with soy milk. Porridge was beautiful. It was an extremely disappointing experience regarding food and service in parts. Seems like “Tokenism” has a vegan option on their menu, but they don’t really care to deliver good vegan food. There are many places in the city with better menus, selection and better tasting food. Updated by previous rating on 2021 09 06
I recommend this hotel for vegan travellers. The hotel is practically perfect in every way. You have a vegan cooked breakfast and bistro and fine dishes. On a recent stay I was a little disappointed that for starters and dessert there is no choice just 1 vegan option on the restaurant menu. But I said everything was DELICIOUS. The menu is very much vegetables concentrated so not much in the type of main proteins Legumes, Tofu, Tempeh etc. But as I said, it's still delicious. A great option if you travel with omnis. I was at Lake Hotel and had lunch at the bistro and dinner at the restaurant. The bistro and the restaurant have the same vegetarian and vegan menu. For lunch I had the falafel burger with sweet potatoes, with the salted caramel cake and banana chocolate. For dinner I had the sweet squirrels fritters for the starter, vegetables jalfrezi for main and chocolate mousse pie for dessert. The restaurant also included tomatoes and herbal bread with olive groves in front of the starter, and a pear Amuse Bouche in front of the main. The staff was really friendly, the food was delicious and it was great, such a varied veg menu that included desserts.
