Feedback gevenThis restaurant is fantastic for 11 months of the year, with an amazing view of the beach, delicious food at great prices, and friendly and efficient staff. The only downside is that it can get overcrowded between December 27 and January 27. They open at 9 am and close at 2:30 pm, serving breakfast and lunch only. Despite the small size of the restaurant, they offer amenities such as water bowls for dogs, a community library bookshelf, and even provide rugs for colder days from May to September. Overall, a great spot to visit, as long as you avoid the busy holiday season in January.
Today, I visited this restaurant for lunch and had a very disappointing experience. I ordered a basic fisherman's basket and was told it would be a 10-minute wait. However, after 40 minutes, I still had not received my food. Several other customers who arrived after me had already been served. When I inquired about my order, I was told they were busy taking phone orders. Eventually, I was informed that my order had been lost and would need to be cooked again. There was no apology offered. When I requested a refund, I was told they could not process it electronically and was rudely handed cash. The staff member also claimed that she had initially told me there would be a 25-minute wait, which was not true. My mother, who has lived in the area for over 55 years, and I, a 30-year local resident, were appalled by the treatment we received. We will not be returning to this restaurant. Instead, we went to the Old Killcare Store where we received the same food in less than 5 minutes with friendly service.
After we were turned away at Bells bakery and informed by the pretentious waitress that there would be a lengthy wait for our coffee, we decided to go down the hill to the Killcare beach kiosk. The location was stunning, right on the beach. The coffee was excellent, passing the test for a long black, and the bacon and egg rolls were delicious.
After a long Walk in the National Park we zipped down to the beach and found this treasure. We stopped for a coffee which was exceptional. Great views along the beach from the extensive grass area in the front.
Our toddlers loved the baby (and big boy) cinos that came bedecked with choc-chip cookies and marshmallows. Staff are friendly, coffee is good and the view is dreamy. Sunday mornings are Nipper-tastic: motivational for the kids but a wait for the much needed coffees. The cafe is exposed to the elements so caution is advised on a wet and windy morning. But still worth the trip.
