The food at this restaurant is excellent, but there is currently construction work happening at the building. Despite this, it is definitely worth a visit for a delicious and hearty breakfast. The fish served is fresh from the boats and the brown bread is made on the premises. It will be amazing once the construction work is finished. The bistro has a lovely view overlooking the Memorial Garden.
If you enjoy freshly prepared fish cooked simply, I have never tasted better anywhere in the world. This restaurant, located inside a local village shop, is no-frills and has more of a cafe-style atmosphere. The daily specials include Lemon Sole, Hake, Cod, Haddock, and others, served with fresh vegetables, potatoes, and chips. The prices are incredibly reasonable, at under €9. Deirdre and her family always make you feel welcomed.
This restaurant has no frills but the food speaks for itself. The fish is landed in Kilmore and bought as it comes in. It is as fresh as you are ever going to get. I have eaten at the Burrow Bistro a couple of times and I could not fault it. This restaurant does not hide behind fancy names or fancy sauces, it delivers simply cooked but superb meals. The portions are generous and the owner will do her upmost to meet your needs. Value for money? You will not find better! If you are in Kilmore Quay and are hungry then seek the Burrow Bistro out. NB. They also do 'take out ' sandwiches which are very generous and very yummy........
