This restaurant is located just a block away from the beach and is only open on weekends for breakfast and lunch, and for dinner during the week. When we visited on a midday Saturday, it wasn't too crowded so we were seated promptly. We found the salt and pepper calamari to be decent, and we enjoyed the roast duck that we shared. If you're interested in a similar dining experience for lunch during the week, check out their sister cafe in Channel Court - Modern Thai Cuisine.
The restaurant offers delicious Thai food with a Western twist. Don't miss out on the duck dishes, they are probably the best I've ever had.
When it comes to finding a spot to eat, Kingston/Blackmans Bay is pretty well served. What has been lacking is Asian beyond take-away standard, and now Room 23 has arrived to fill the gap. It's not quite fine dining but it brings Asian inspired dishes expertly executed and presented well. Chicken satay skewers and prawn bites - excellent entrees (the prawns were particularly tasty and melting tender) and both gluten free. A very generous serving of fried rice was well received, as was the marinated lamb shank. The latter was falling-off-the-bone tender and subtly layered with Asian flavours. A couple of very reasonable glasses of white complemented the food. Two young serving staff were cheerful and personable and the boss engaged and interested in what was happening on both sides of the pass. A very enjoyable time was had by all.
The atmosphere was great and the food good value.Great view and easy parking.Staff were attentive and pleasant .
