When we arrived we where told they didnt have many bookings so had moved us to the bistro which would have been fine accept it was full and we where seated between two families with very young children not a problem except one family thought it was ok for one of their children to shout loudly and run around other tables without reacting (bad parenting not childs fault) only comment made when he knocked his fathers drink over was, well that worked out an expensive drink ? Food was just ok for the price paid lacked seasoning ,my venison faggots lacked blackberries when asked ?told they where in the sauce, wifes roast beef nice but quite fatty and was more rare than my rare ribeye which put her off, Desserts very limited choice and just average for price Service was again just ok even though they dropped service cutlery 3 times when clearing and asked if we wanted to see dessert menu after our starters and then 10% service charge made an already expensive bill worse. Im sure if we had been called about closing the conservatory we would have cancelled as she said when we booked it is more casual dining which it most definitely was
We stayed the night at Titchwell Manor and we’re completely blown away at the staff and service of this beautiful hotel. The booking process was so easy with the receptionist who also greeted us the minute we got out our car, we even got a room upgrade which was an added bonus. The evening/dinner staff were nothing but perfectionists and made our evening meal absolutely 10/10 from start to finish. The breakfast fairy was a total ray of sunshine the exact wake up call we needed just pure fun all weekend and we are so grateful for everyone at Titchwell. A incredible start to my partners birthday weekend.
Our first visit to Titchwell Manor, we felt it didn't really live up to its reputation. We had dinner in the two thirds empty restaurant, even though it was obviously not busy, the staff seemed in a muddle from when we arrived and the service was a bit haphazard throughout, with things being forgotten or taking a long time. We had mains and desserts, the food was OK but we felt it didn't justify the high prices. The restaurant looks out on a garden, sadly although neat and tidy, the garden looked rather neglected and no effort had been made to make it an attractive space (no flowers etc. Overall we were underwhelmed and felt that Titchwell Manor is resting on its laurels rather than keeping up with the competition.
We first visited a couple of years ago and stayed in the exquisite shepherds huts. We enjoyed it that much we booked 5 nights in one of the courtyard rooms The courtyard rooms are spacious and have everything we want We ate in the hotel for breakfast and dinner. Superbly presented and a little different sometimes The staff are all great fun, obviously well trained and do anything for you.
Good choice of food on menu. The oysters were superb, and are from just down the coast. Mains were good, the big letdown was the slow service. Had to wait half a hour between courses, despite being only half full. Otherwise worth a visit.
