Authentic California Mexican Grill

I had never noticed this restaurant while driving by, but after reading a review, I decided to give it a try. There was only one person working there, who greeted customers, took orders, cooked, and served the food. He was friendly and upbeat, and the food was the best Mexican cuisine I’ve found in Kingsport. I will definitely return. One downside for some diners is that they don’t serve alcohol.

When I first saw the restaurant's name, I was a bit thrown off. I thought it might be a quirky gimmick—after all, why would a Mexican restaurant include "California" in its title? However, I suspect it was a smart move to attract us native Californians who are on the hunt for good food! I ordered the Enchiladas Poblanas with Mole sauce. They were tasty—definitely good, though I have to say my aunt’s are still the best. They were satisfying overall. The beans were a bit too soupy for my taste but still flavorful. The rice was decent, but it doesn't compare to my grandmother's, who holds the top spot. My husband, who often jokes about being a 'gringo,' chose the Carnitas and was pleasantly surprised. They had a nice clean flavor without being overly greasy, so he was able to satisfy his cravings for Mexican food. We were also really impressed with the two salsas that came with the chips—they were both delicious and had a nice kick. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with comfortable seating and a clean dining environment. The host and server was excellent at his job, making the experience even more enjoyable!

I've had better Mexican food elsewhere, but not in Kingsport. If you're craving Mexican cuisine in Kingsport, this is definitely the best spot to visit.

The food is fantastic. ALWAYS made to order, table guacamole is delicious. But it's not just the food. Juan Carlos will remember you, your children, and what you order! My daughter had a beloved lovey and she dropped it in his restaurant unbeknownst to us. When we came back the next time he had it washed and got it out from behind the counter. My daughter was BEYOND ECSTATIC and this wonderful gesture was not lost on us. Try it and you won't be disappointed!

This is hands down the best mexican restaurant in our area!! If you haven't eaten here then you're missing out!! The owner is precious and he basically runs the dining area totally on his own. I'd much rather support a small family owned business than a large restaurant chain. Also just a psa if you do decide to dine in, they don't have air conditioning.
