However, when we got home and opened the food, it became clear why the wait was so short. The mushrooms in the rice looked like they came from a can. The Szechuan beef had a texture and flavor reminiscent of the boil-in-the-bag dinners my mother used to buy when I was a kid. It did have a bit of chili heat, but it wasn't enough to overcome the factory-like taste of the sauce. The General Tao Chicken resembled boneless buffalo wings rather than the dish we expected; the sauce was heavy with something that tasted like Tabasco, and I can't understand how deep-fried chicken could be so dry! While the portion sizes and prices at China Village are reasonable, I would gladly pay more for smaller portions if it meant enjoying authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. There was little about the meal that felt Asian to me. I would bet that if I were blindfolded, I would think I was eating subpar pub food. If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to fill up quickly, China Village might be the place for you. However, if you’re seeking authentic dishes, rich flavors, and fresh ingredients, you might want to keep looking, as you won't find any of that here.

The buffet had a limited selection, but the staff was incredibly friendly. There were no meat-free options on the buffet, but they prepared a special dish for our vegetarian guest.

This is some of the best Chinese food I've had in the valley. The buffet offerings were excellent and packed with flavor. I will definitely return on my next visit.

I ordered the hot chicken sandwich, and it was very delicious. Today, I tried the chicken curry and was certainly not disappointed. It was really flavorful and just right. I'll definitely order this dish again!

The dining experience at this restaurant is outstanding. The food is always fresh, no matter what we've ordered. It's exceptional and undoubtedly the best Chinese cuisine between New Minas and Gaspereau.
