Fran's Fish & Chips - Kingston

This was the first time i have picked up and i was shocked to see how dirty Frans is. I actually hesitated to pick up my food, but I did. The counter and especially the cash register was filthy! It hasn’t been wiped down for a very long time. Gross. Fish was good, fries were not good at all. Not sure if I will be back after seeing inside. Really dirty.

The fish cod and haddock were delicious. The batter was crispy and tasty. The fries, gravy and Cole slaw were all very good. The batter on the fish was noticeably greasy. And so for the rest of the day we were popping Tums. If greasy food doesn’t bother you, you’ll love this place.

Simply put, the best you will get in Kingston. Fish is always perfectly cooked and the service is second to none.

Fran's offers the absolute best club sandwich in town! It was incredibly delicious. It is also huge (since it is on oval bread, rather than the standard square bread), so bring your appetite or share half with someone else. The fries are also wonderful, not overdone like many places. I can't wait to try the fish!

I was so excited to finally get to go to Fran’s Fish and chips. I read the reviews and I heard so many comments about it. We ordered the family meal and added breaded mushrooms and calamari. The service was quick and friendly and I’ll have to admit that the fish itself was very good! Unfortunately, that’s where the good experience ended. The coleslaw, gravy and tartar sauce were all completely tasteless. The breaded mushrooms were greasy and mostly batter it was hard to find the mushrooms. The calamari was just so-so. The fries I couldn’t even. After all the hype it was a huge letdown. We are so disappointed and we will not be back. If you do ever go, go just for the fish and bring your own tartar sauce and sides
