By the time we finished the cold meat the drinks arrived. Having ordered a big drink we got a small one. This is the last time I come here.
This was a group event and the venue was chosen by someone else. We've seen enough tour busses drop people here to know to stay away. Perhaps we are spoilt for choice by living in Vienna, but I'll take pretty much any of the other...heuriger we have visited over this one, any day. The traditional heuriger buffet offerings were a little substandard; the salads did not venture much beyond the Big 3: Potato, Beet, and Cucumber; a couple of every-mayonnaised dishes; and some corn and sad-looking broad beans. And lots of gnats flying here, there, and everywhere. Though Backhendl, a favorite dish was on the table-menu, I was told I needed to order it from the Buffet. Fair enough, except when I asked for it at the buffet I was told they didn't have any, so I settled for a warmed and rewarmed roast chicken half that tasted like one might expect. My husband and the two other friends at the table gave ho-hum reviews of their Schnitzels. The wine, though, was quite good. Our table shared a liter of the house wine with G'spritz and it retained its character through the sparkling water--always a good sign. I purchased a bottle of their Grauer Burgunder to bring home, and it, too, was very good. The wait staff are obviously bilingual, and seemed pleased to actually converse in German with us. The restaurant was fairly busy for a random October weekday evening, and we felt they did their best to keep everyone happy and satisfied with the service. All of this said, will we ever drop in again on our own? No. Well, except to purchase a bottle or two of wine.

One of the tour group destinations to eat and drink new wines of Austria. Weingut Wolff is high in the hills outside the city of Vienna in the Vienna Woods area, not to be confused with Wolff wines in USA. These wines are fairly sweet,...and mild. Food was good and accordian entertainment and sing along arranged by tour director made the evening memorable.
