Half Barrel - Knoxville

Burger. Fine. Whatever.. The burger was cooked well enough. Service was painfully slow, though it was a gameday. All and all, the places is just there. Knowville is a filthy town anyway. Roll Tide.

The Half Barrel is a rather forgettable bar experience. I bellied up to the bar, and immediately noticed that there weren’t many college-age patrons drinking there. As a matter of fact, the dark and dingy bar was not teeming with life at all. There were a few TV’s in the bar, and there was a row of rather uninviting tables in the back. I refused to order food, as the prices were incredibly high for appetizers that I wouldn’t pay for. The bar seemed understaffed, and it took a while for the unfriendly bartender to finally open my tab. The selection of beer was average, but I was disappointed to see that the beers I wanted to try had run out. Like most places on the Cumberland Strip, the cost of drinks was ridiculous. I did enjoy the high gravity beers that I ordered, but I did not enjoy them enough to pay another visit.
