Havana - Köln

My Boyfriend loves everything to do with Cuba and Havana, this place did the cocktails and beers with we loved the only thing that let it down was the food. It looked like it came out of a packet and that's saying something when you...have pizza. We will be coming back as the staff and drinks were on point.

I will give them an A for effort. Unfortunately, most of the food failed to impress us. My fried Sardines were very good as were the feta cheese appertizer. That is where the problem starts. Cuban should have Cuban ingredients. Is Feta cheese Cuban? My...Rollo had schafskäse in it. Really? It becomes obvious as you read the menu the dishes were adapted for German palettes. I wanted to see black beans. They should be plentiful on a Cuban menu. Maybe it is my fault expecting Cuban ingredients in a Cuban restaurant. And please, please find a new chorizo vender. I can buy packaged chorizo in the grocery store for much less. This takes nothing away from the staff who provided excellent service.

Having walked up and down Neusser Str this was almost the last restaurant we came to it was quite busy and one of those plastic menus which can make for mediocre food ours was in German but I seem to read food in...any language and we were offered an English one if we needed it. I had a large glass of rose wine and hubby a beer and starters of bruschetta bread lightly smeared with garlic olive oil mozzarella and fresh tomatoes...little bit of mint and segments of fresh orange to squeeze on top light and great for hot evening light starter which was enough for of us to share I had medallions of loin with figs and orange...with salad for me no room left for anything else! But why spoil perfection? The atmosphere was amazing and sitting outside soaking up the ambience was quite magical on the warm night watching the world go by...you could pay EU across the road for steak if you wanted but my husband said his was fantastic so why pay more and have a great time!

We went there spontaneous without any expectations and it was very good. Food was tasty and the service very friendly with own recommendations for food and drinks. Cosy atmosphere and good location We would recommend!
