This is a typical locals pub with nice decor and furnishings, there's big screens to enjoy the Bundesliga and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and especially outside looking out onto the busy and bustling streets around this wonderful pub. We were here on a Wednesday night and this place was just starting to get busy with a great atmosphere ,we got a couple of Gaffel Kölsch beers and just chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. The beer was really good,I enjoy the various Kölsch beers available throughout Cologne and Gaffel Kölsch is probably one of my favourites. We ended up staying here for a couple of beers each before we moved on and for a first time visit we were very impressed with the great pub. Lapidarium is really easy to locate, jump the Ubahn or tram number 12.15.16.18 to stop Ebertplatz and walk down Turinerstaße and cut onto Greesbergstraße were you cut onto Eigelstein were you will find this pub. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from 5pm till 2am A great pub and well worth checking out.
I would say that about 70% of the menu wasn’t available. This left little choice, but as we were hungry it had to be something. It ended being a very mediocre venison goulash with some packet spätzle. What a disaster. Then you have staff who need to stand behind this menu and critic, so the chance of them being friendly is nearly impossible. Well they lived up to this. There were not unfriendly, but also not jolly either. What a shame that this place came back to big reviews, huge expectation only to end up like this. The concept of having wild food on the menu needs to have a solid delivery chain and obviously there isn’t one. I won’t be going back for a long time!
I was staying in Cologne on business. Went for a walk towards the old part of the city and came across this bar. A bit off the beaten track compared to the centre of Cologne but was worth it. Good selection of German beers. Vert drinkable. Menu is limited, predominantly wild boar based. First choice wasn't available but settled on wild boar goulash, served with bread. Hearty food and good portion size. Very tasty too though wild boar may not be to everyone's taste. I enjoyed it. Reasonably priced. A good find
I love this place! I wouldn't recommend it as a restaurant: it's not. You can get some snacks - the toasted cheese sandwich seems to be popular. Lapidarium is just a good local pub, where you can sit outside in the summer. The drink prices are super-cheap. It's not charming or cosy - there's plenty of space inside & out. You can easily go with a group of friends & sit on benches either side of long wooden tables. The staff are friendly & efficient.I can't think of anything negative to say, & that's not like me.
Kultkneipe im Herzen Kölns! Rustikale einrichtung, schnelle Bedienung, tolles Bier.
