Stadtgarten-Restaurant - Köln

We went to this outside garden/restaurant after work so we could enjoy the last summer warmth in the evening. Outside area was really nice, sounded by trees. We had cheese burger and pommes. The Bon was a bit dry and the steak was a bit chewy. Also the pommes tasted dry. I would come back again to enjoy the surroundings but surely not the food.

Super cool location both in winter and in summer. They have a nice beergarden and a spacious indoor restaurant/café. At the same time, Stadtgarten is a very active concert location with a broad offer, including the super cool “Lagerfeuer” gigs with emerging as well as renowned artists.

We had a Stadtgarten burger, which was delicious. But we had to wait 30 min to be able to order, and 15 to be able to pay in the end. The low number of the waiters caused extraordinary waiting times by every table. Other people also looked like unsatisfied.

We met a friend here for a late lunch and were lucky enough to grab a table inside as the diners left, since it was popular due to the Christmas market outside. Our server was a casually dressed friendly guy, who was apologetic when my first choice, the variety of fish dish, was out. My spouse ordered from the Tagesmenu, the vegetarian choice of polenta, salad, and a berry compote for dessert (9.50 Euros), a Koelsch beer (1.70 Euros). He thot the beer was good, the dessert tasty and not too sweet and the polenta was interesting, but good. I had a hot chocolate that was good sized and with steamed milk (2.50 Euros), the veggie burger, which was a little crispy on the edges but overall good, with fries (8.50Euros). Our friend ordered a coke (2.40 Euros), and a Stadtgarten salad (9.50 Euros), which was huge with bread on the side as well. She thot it was good, and could have taken half of it home for another meal. The ambiance isn't much, but the noise level is fine for conversation, and it was popular and filled.

A lovely green oasis with solid food and a nice choice of common and local kinds of beer. All dishes of typical german pub food come with a side salad. At a small park lake with boats for rent. You order the drinks with the waiter at the table. For the food you will have to stand in line at the counter and pay there. Afterwards it will be served at the table.
