Let me start by saying I have worked in hotel business for many years, managed hotels in several countries, worked for booking.com and now work for a leading global company that develops software and websites for hotels. Why I am saying it is that I...love and breathe for hotel business, I love numbers, marketing,....and customer service. I never book hotels on booking.com as I am a huge fan of direct bookings. Sometimes it is hard because hotels are not educated enough to run their business and do not provide online booking on their websites. So i took the time, which I hardly ever do, and emailed this hotel after looking at prices on booking.com. Mrs Michaela Baptist responded with her offer that was double than what was on booking.com. I sent her an email back stating this fact and her response was simple. Your request is canceled. No explanation, no apology, nothing....not even some offer. I went back on booking.com and just like I thought, the price went suddenly up. I can understand hotels make mistakes, however, this behavior is not apart of this business. Not sure who this lady is but serious training and reality check is needed. I would never stay at a hotel that ruins its first impression by such behavior. This is actually alarming to me but I understand it might not be to others.
We had diner here with friends. The menu was OK and the food served was very nice, allthough the portions could have been bit larger. Some of the waiters/waitresses did not seem to fully understand German. The service however was perfect. The Adler claims to...be a wine hotel but when I asked to bring us a wine that we should taste before leaving Kaiserstuhl', I obtained no adequate advise. The prices are Ok and even low, but the quality can be better. The owners seemed to be more interested in some friends/returning hotel guests that with what was happening in their restaurant.
We had a perfect dinner in the garden, on our way to Italy and traditionally trying to avoid the Raststattes. Food was fine, good sized salads, nice steaks. We loved the place and might try to sleep here as well as it all looks nice...and staff is very friendly.
Okay the choice is not huge, but you can eat everything very well. also the frog legs taste excellent as appetizer. the steak is also highly recommended. the prices are rather elevated.
