Babaloo And Uma's Kitchen - Koh Tao

The food at this place really blew us away in freshness, variety and flavour. The restaurant itself is so chilled and quiet, away from the busy main road, half way up a hill. We ordered from the vegan menu, and had the fresh steamed noodle rolls with mushroom, pad pak wan with duck and tofu green curry. The food is very responsibly priced, especially considering quality and deep thai flavours of the food. Unfortunately the food is let down by the unfriendly, lazy service at the front of house. Everyone seems like they can’t be bothered, and you try and have friendly conversation or ask them questions and you get a very lazy, cold response…that is if you even get a response at all. A real shame because this would easily be a 5 star (if I could) rating from me.

Undoubtedly the best vegan option of the island. After discovering it, we went every day during our stay on the island, and it was not short. We tried a variety of Thai dishes adapted to vegan cuisine including mock meats and everything was very tasty. Always accompanied by Babaloo and his furry friends.
