When I talk about our orders, we ordered chicken cahowmin, chili pot and roasted chili pot. Yes, this place offers one of the best pigs in colkata. If you're a pig lover you have to go have bites! And if you are not a pig, this place also offers good chicken dishes. When I talk about how they taste, it's just a word sweetheart, delicious. The pig was well cooked and flavoured. No smell and others. It's full-bodied. On the othe hand the Chowmin was also lovely. They say good food is the reason for good mood. Therefore, a visit can release your happy hormones. Well, reaching this place is very easy, you get a subway to the popular Chandni Chawk, and from the gate number to and you've reached Chung wah, it's just next to the gate number 2. Bon appetite chère
Legendary. Perfectly preserves the Calcutta Heritage. Is a dreamland for foodies, especially the ones who love Chinese dishes. Must try. Must visit.
The ambiance reminds me of old Kolkata vibes, the food is really amazing. Ordered Pork fried rice, along with Roast pork mushroom bamboo shoots and Crispy chilli baby corn. The quantities were well balanced and for the price both the quality and quantity were just too good to handle. The service is also very fast.
What can I say? Chung Wah (in Kolkata pronounced as chung u ah mostly) is all about adolescent nostalgia. For many this is the place where they got the first taste of adulthood (whatever that may mean). If you are in Kolkata and looking for a watering hole in the heart of the city then you should not miss Chung Wah (just beside Chandni Chowk metro station). Well, coming to the food and drinks at Chung Wah let me say it is quite decent. At least the basic Chinese and fried items are good enough. The quantity is huge. The ingredients are fresh and the preparations are tasty. My favourite at Chung Wah is of course their iconic Dry Roast Chilli Pork. It 's heaven actually. Just make sure you give them 2 instructions use less quantity of green chilies and don 't go overboard with pork fat. From the price perspective it 's value for money. Budget for two will be about 700 to 800 at the most (without alcohol). Comparatively beverages cost is a bit steeper now. Beer costs about INR 250/ a bottle and standard IMFL costs about INR 200 300 per 60 ml depending on the brand. But hardly one goes to Chung Wah only for food and drinks. Most of us go there just to look back, relax and talk to ourselves. The vintage decor with open tables in a single row right in the middle (where you share your table with complete strangers, to hell with privacy and personal space) and fully covered cabins on both sides (the place to become a bit naughty may be no one bothers to disturb) is something that you would hardly come across in any other watering hole. Most of the waiters are in their early or mid 50s and have been working there for at least a couple of decades if not more. Most of the patrons are regulars they have their fixed tables (or cabins), know the waiters by their first names and keep ordering the same drink and the food every time they visit. Honestly, Chung Wah is not for the light hearted. It doesn 't stand for finesse. It is not for the typical middle class or upper middle class Bengali family. It is not also for the Gen Z used to high end Pubs Bars. People coming here for the first time may find it a bit shabby, unhygienic and dim (which is partly true). But over the years it becomes a habit. As you pass by the Chandni Chowk metro station you suddenly stop by the bright red façade of the restaurant and feel an urge to push the doors to enter a place that almost belongs to you. May be, Chung Wah is the Hotel California of Calcultta it 's a lovely place, it 's a lovely place!!!
Best Place for Chinese, hands down. I have tried a lot of place in Kolkata but this is the best till now. Portion is too much even 1 plate for two people. The mixed fried rice had a fragrance and chili fish was equally tasty. Don't miss the place just to see the ambience. Food quality is what matters, give it a go. And it's pocket friendly as well. Like the portion you'll be getting will absolutely do justice with whatever they are charging for.
