Their vegan options include flavors such as fragrant mango, durian sea salt, and pandan honeycomb, showcasing the authentic tastes of the region. My personal favorite is the Apong-gato ice cream, a delicious blend of Sarawak apong espresso and coffee nips that perfectly balances sweet and bitter notes. The ice cream is available in cups or tubs, with clean and convenient packaging. The staff are fluent in English and Malay, and provide friendly recommendations based on your mood. I highly recommend stopping by to sample these delightful treats.
An amazing tale of innovation begins at Moktis, located in Jejawi, Perlis. This establishment is the brainchild of a dynamic duo who brought together Gula Apong from Sarawak and Eis to create a new dessert experience. In addition to their unique creations, they also offer toppings such as real honeycombs, boba, and muesli. The most popular flavor is the mixed pandan apong, with a new harumanis mango flavor coming soon. The harumanis mango, grown in Perlis and in season between May and June, is said to be the best mango in the world with a distinct creamy and milky taste. This independent shop offers a fresh take on ice cream, different from franchise stores. The ice cream was delicious and I plan to return to try the pandan and harumanis flavors. There are limited ice cream shops in Kuah, especially ones offering authentic Malaysian flavors. As someone who briefly lived in the area, I can attest that most ice cream here is imported, lacking those unique Malaysian tastes. For a true taste of Malaysia, I highly recommend Moktis.
