I'm salivating as I'm writing this.Their chicken chop so tender and flavourful. Their sauce not overpowering, just a nice amount to balance the whole serving. Their ice cream to die for! and their UFO tarts, one of the best.Oh, and you can give back to the community whilst doing all that. need I say more?
I was extremely impressed with the chicken chop at this restaurant. The exterior was incredibly crispy while the interior remained juicy. It was a substantial portion and the sauce was also delicious. For dessert, I opted for the UFO tart and brownie. The tart was excellent and a staff member mentioned that it is a popular choice among customers. Unfortunately, the brownie was a little dry, but it was rich in chocolate flavor. I suspect it may have been due to my request to have it warmed up. Despite this, overall it was a fantastic first visit to the restaurant.
I used to rave about the scones from Smoke house in Bangsar now closed , it really was good stuff . I had it twice in Bangsar. Had it again recently when we visited Smoke house in Fraser's Hill and I was thoroughly disappointed . Since then I have been on a quest to hunt down good scones again, and I hit jackpot in Charlie's Cafe. From the looks of it , it's nicely puffed up and it is a tall scone , this usually means real butter is used because the evaporation of moisture from the butter will cause the dough to leaven and the fat that doesn't evaporate will remain as flavour and will give the scones that distinct texture. After sinking teeth in it, I was pleased. It was fluffy yet dense and I can tear the scones into two which usually is a good sign of tasty scones because of the layers leaven. The best part of it ? It was only rm4.90 for 2 pcs. Smoke house have it at RM10 per pc. RM4.90 2 pcs served alongside w butter and marmalade. Ordered chicken chop and sarawak laksa . The chicken was tender moist on the inside with a crispy outside , those who love fried chicken skin will love Charlie's version of chicken chop. The downside will be the fries cube that didn't really hit the spot , was expecting crinkle or shoes strings. The sarawak laksa is aromatic but lack of oomph , but their chilli dip is good which compensated the lack of oomph . Drinks were decent , u can get espresso based coffee here. The bill came to RM46.50 for all above. <br/ <br/
Charlie's Cafe offers delicious food with a charitable twist. Customers can purchase a RM5 receipt to be placed on the cafe's pay-it-forward wall. Anyone in need can come in and take a receipt to redeem a meal, choosing from a selection of noodle or rice dishes and a drink of milo, coffee, or tea. It's a great way to enjoy a meal while supporting a good cause.
