Visited in Apr 2023 A good menu crafted from local ingredients sourced from different parts of Malaysia. The 2 3 starting dishes and the desserts were particularly very good. I felt that some of the dishes in the middle of the menu lacked a bit of flavour or had too many components to give it a defining flavour. The main course dishes lacked a bit of magic in my view which would be expected of a Michelin star restaurant. But the dessert dishes made up for it. Instead of wine pairing, we went for a few non alcoholic juices which were a good choice in my view. Service was good. The inspiration behind preparation behind the dishes were explained in detail. Before the start of the meal, we were taken on a kitchen tour which also included a short session on the ingredients which were used for the menu which was quite interesting. All in all, a place to definitely try if your are in KL. The overall experience is one to cherish as is expected of a Michelin star restaurant.
An excellent experience, overall. It was a great education on ingredients native to Malaysia. The courses however were hit and miss. Felt like some of them were overly complicated, with too much going on in terms of ingredients. On purely taste, other than the dessert, there was nothing memorable. Still worth a visit to see and learn about novel ingredients and enjoy superb views and service.
Wonderful dining experience at Dewakan! : My husband brought me to celebrate my birthday. Loved how they brought us to tour the kitchen and to introduce the ingredients used for the night. Thought that it was interesting how they source and used local produced in their dishes. I like the creativity behind the dishes and believed that there was a lot of thought process in making every individual dishes. A lot of attention was given towards the dining experience I was cold and they offered me a shawl, kept changing my cup of water to ensure that it was constantly hot. Would love to come back when they change their menu!
This is an incredibly experimental restaurant I personally found their dishes and flavours to be too unusual and overwhelming. I wouldn’t recommend this if you simply want to treat yourself to a fancy meal, this is rly only for those who appreciates this kind of stuff. Incredibly expensive for KL also at £400 for two with 2x wine glasses each. I had much better food around for £3.
