Gao Feng does great quality dishes.<br/ <br/ I lived very close to them in 2001, when a different owner was in charge, a sprightly happy chinese man was the master on the floor and this place was full at lunchtime, his partner controlled the kitchen and was the chef, and it was consisently fantastic and the food sublime and way too cheap for the quality we got ... heaven on legs!<br/ <br/ Now we've moved to the newer owner that took over approx 8 yrs ago, (and I'm phoning for home delivery rather than eating there) and the food is still lovely, non greasy or MSG icky, and exactly what you'd expect/want.<br/ <br/ BUT The chinese femme owner on the phone is a bit rude. She bullies as she tries to get you to go to the restaurant, rather than do home delivery, and she frequently yells/screams in Chinese at her staff, mid phone call.<br/ <br/ This womans manner is bad. But yes I love the food, and the pricing is tiny, but I'd hate to work there! I wouldnt dare dine in, as her behaviour is scarily brusque.<br/ <br/ Her young uni student drivers quickly deliver excellent food and are friendly, professional, and warm.<br/ <br/ I feel the love 1/5
I wouldn 't say all the dishes on the menu are 'authentic ' but certainly everything I had was tasty and cooked properly. I think this restaurant is of a higher standard than your average suburban chinese takeaway. They also have a small range of malaysian food. I have tried the beef rendang and the malaysian chicken curry. I wouldn 't call the rendang special, but it certainly wasn 't your typical chinese restaurant attempt at curry (ie stir fry some beef with some generic curry powder). Definitely tasted like curry. <br/ <br/ Their chicken curry was good and certainly as a person with a malaysian background, I thought more than acceptable representation of the dish. <br/ <br/ Only a few places deliver malaysian food in my area and I would certainly order from them again.
Best Chinese we have had for years, and also around the area. Not sure about the negative comments but the foods good so as the services. Give them a try, great portion and very economical price, they even on the Herald Sun newspaper for their famous Dim Sims, best dimmies in the world.
Very yummy foods and super fast and friendly service, definitely come back to reorder again. I had lemon chicken and nasi goreng, both were fantastic and terrific.<br/
Fell across the dimmies here 5 or 6 years ago my ex used to live around the corner they are superb. The pork in plum sauce is good to. Only other thing I've tried is the special fried rice and it's ok
