My husband started with a cup of the Reuben Soup.(yummy) I had a build your own burger with mushrooms, fried onions and cooper sharp cheese. My husband had the hot Roast Beef Sandwich. For an extra two dollars I added the fresh cut fries and he added onion rings. Everything was very good. The service was awesome. We sat at a table in the bar area, but they also have a nice size dining room. Plenty of off street parking. Prices are reasonable for the portion size.
Visiting family in PA and they wanted to eat here because they heard it was closing soon. They had been here before and had been wanting to return. I don't know why they are closing, but it's a shame. Every thing we ordered was enjoyable. I had the honey dipped fried chicken, because I haven't seen that on a menu in decades. Those who had the seafood dishes said they were very good, maybe a bit salty. The peanut butter frosting on the chocolate cake was magical. Service was good, they didn't rush us out which was good because we wanted to linger a bit and chat. I don't know if someone else is going to open something here, or if it will sadly be left vacant, but we all enjoyed our visit.
Our second time here and the food and service is very good. Never a packed place and good parking. They have Wi-Fi yet it was still hard to get phone service. Very nice clean dining room and bar. It can be hard to find, so if you like it a lot and plan to return again, I recommend storing it in your GPS. Also, its not far from the Crystal Caverns. If you like cold sandwiches, I recommend the Virginville Club. And the appetizer sampler is very good. And more importantly, the beer was cold.
I don't know the area, as I am only passing by, and I may be a bit harsh, as I don't know how it compares to the rest of the neighborhood. However, this is not meant to be a bad review. The service is wonderful. We had a large party of 15 people. The menu is explosive! They have so many different things to order. They also have a good list of beers on draught, and the cutest glasswear. However, none of the food impressed me. One of their more interesting sides had multiple different types of potatoes, and while they were cooked well, they could have been seasoned better. I had their chicken special, and that was disappointing. Their crab cakes were not bad, and had a good amount of crab meat.
Second dinner here was excellent. Sunday afternoon (11/23) around 2:00 they were not very busy. We ordered from the Featured Items on the menu insert. I find that is almost always a good strategy. My wife had Broiled Monkfish with a butter/lemon sauce. She was concerned that the sauce might be overpowering but it was not. It was light and buttery with enough lemon to taste but not too strong at all. I had Pork Tenderloin with Apple Jack sauce. It was excellent. Tender and tasty. We shared Creme Brulee for desert. It was as good as I have had anywhere. It may be out of the way, but well worth the effort.
