Totally agree with Bruce the sushi mackerel sushi (salted mackerel wrapped in seaweed (the fresh kind not the dried seaweed is amazing beyond words. They only have 4 tables and their menu is very limited so if you don't like fish sushi I suggest you go somewhere else. Else if you are after Kyoto style sushi this is the place to go to. Staff is very friendly and even though their English is a bit limited they do have an English menu with pictures. I ordered a mackerel sushi and the grilled sushi (just 2 pieces . The mackerel sushi is big so u get full easily. It is just diagonally opposite the Yamato shrine on the Gion main road next to a very nice bread shop.

Amazingly delicious. I recommend skipping the set and only ordering the mackerel. It is delicious beyond what I thought possible. The other dishes pale in comparison.

Beautiful sushi presentation with unique ingredients. An explosion for the taste buds. Well worth the wait.

Very yummy traditional sushi (NO soy sauce wasabi), the fish head soup was equally fantastic!!
