Restaurant Opia - La Baie

My wife and I ate here during our recent visit to la Baie and the Saguenay region. It is a charming place, which makes you feel warm and welcome as you enter. After an appetizer each, I had moules marinieres and my wife had the...chicken. Both were excellently cooked and presented, by well-trained waiters. We were able to buy half-bottles of wine (a whole bottle is too much for us). With dessert, tax and tip the bill was under $100. I recommend it highly and would certainly go there again if we are back in the neighbourhood.

According to all sources we caught Opia on a bad night (August Bad/chewy steaks (both), overcooked seafood in the seafood linguine and drab salmon tartare, coupled with poor service made this night’s meal in La Baie very disappointing for us. Would not recommend based...on our experiences.

With a small balcony up front for outdoor dining, the pleasant and colorful property looks attractive and inviting. So does the original menu. While the soup of the day was very good, the main course was disappointing. It was average, at best. On the other...hand, the warm reception and cheerful service reflected the genuine hospitality the residents are so well known for in this dynamic town that has accomplished so much over the past years.

A nice place but limited at lunch I wanted to try the carpachio as stated on chalkboard.. but only the list on table. We must have been at the local lunch rush. I would go back again if I ever make it to this town...again. The suprise dessert was excellent!!

We found this restaurant by chance as we left the dock after a day long boat tour. It was the first one we saw. We were hungry and tired. We sat out on the terrase and were amazed at the gem we had discovered. The...food was delicious. The service impeccable. We watched goldfinches fly nearby. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day.
