We made a reservation for Christmas lunch by email (in very basic French ). On arrival we were greeted like old friends. We selected an entree and main course main from the set menu and were then treated to a selection of amuse bouche, chestnut soup and boudin noir in choux pastry.........I think! Anyway it was mouthwateringly delicious. This was followed by oysters with vinaigrette, foie gras then onto fish and goose. Finally desserts a mini degustation of feuille, creme brulee and pineapple mousse. Everthing was superb including the service. It is a family run restaurant and they obviously care about everything. We will definitely return.
We went as a special occasion with cousins visiting from Canada. All three courses for all four of us were excellent and the patronne's welcome was warm. Staff service was a bit brusque but only marginally detracted from the experience. Highly recommended
Our third night at La Foret Fouesnant and the restaurants just got better and better. This Auberge has 2 small dining rooms inside plus 8 outdoor tables under awning over looking a well kept garden and lawn. We arrived early without booking and the lady greeted us with a friendly handshake and offered us a choice of outdoor tables. I do like table seating side by side as opposed to opposite and the menu had our mouth watering. Amuse bouche with one of the tastiest fresh tomato gaspachio with toast and a serving of lard. Did not appeal on sight, but the taste was so impressive, not fatty, it just blended. Starter of lightly bbq Langoustine on a bed of buckwheat was so sweet and delicious, I sucked the shells and didn't mind who noticed! We both had beautifully cooked butter sole with boiled potatoes, purple cauliflower floret and turnip, but apart from the sole the vegetable to stand out was the soft delicate creamy and buttery carrot puree with a slightly curry taste. We finished with creme brûlée and an ice-cream with a calvados "wow-punch!" flavour. A remarkable dinner. We had a bottle of pink rose wine, a good wine list fairly priced. Arrive early or pre book. It was full.
Having visited Concarneau and been unable to find parking close to a restaurant we set of along the coast road back to our rented house in Benodet .On an impulse I turned into the car part of The Auberge. It was 14.30 so entered the restaurant wondering about the reception I would get . The proprietor welcomed us with great warmth . Lunch would be no problem she said . We then feasted on good ordinary French food which prompted us to return for dinner a couple of days later, again excellent food and faultless service and good value for money.Highly Recommended
