I has only risotto with mushroons but it was very tasty and the service was exceptional. Well recommended.
Everything from start to finish was simply exceptional here. I looked on trip advisor to find a nice restaurant for our weekend trip to Lille and this restaurant came highly rated. We dined many years ago in L’Epicure in Le Bristol, Paris and thought it...apt that there was another highly rated restaurant of the same name in Lille. So we booked. We were the first people in the restaurant, and we’re greeted with warm, friendly staff and didn’t feel at all conscious to be the only couple there to begin with. The menu is small but perfectly formed. We had a full three course meal which is unheard of for us as we always get too full but the food was just too wonderful to stop eating! We spent 2.5 hours thoroughly savouring every delicious bite. Absolutely spectacular. The drinks were wonderful too a fabulous champagne and Pinot Noir. And for the quality, it was very reasonably priced. Cannot recommend enough. Fantastic restaurant, wonderful people, delicious food.
We visited L’Epicure on our final day of our long weekend spent in Lille. We tried to get a reservation on the Saturday evening but were unable as it was fully booked, so we opted for the Monday lunchtime instead. Before getting to the food,...we received outstanding service throughout the whole experience. Attentive, but not at all intrusive, it was just right. Seated in the restaurant, we were surrounded by modern, attractive and clean decor. The restaurant had a relaxed warm vibe, and the service matched this with great effect. We were made to feel welcome from the get go. The Maitre D took her time to explain every aspect of the menu in English for us (as our french is very minimal) and answered any questions we had. The food: We were brought a complimentary amuse bouche of a foamy emulsion of butternut squash. It had a great flavour and had been whizzed up to give it an aerated texture. For entree, we opted for the Poached Egg, with Braised Leeks and Parmesan to share. Served with fresh, crusty yet soft french bread it was a great way to start our meal. The egg was poached perfectly. For our main courses, I had the White Fish with a hazelnut crust, served with slow braised chicory, rocket pesto and toasted hazelnuts. The fish was cooked perfectly, so soft and it flaked apart. I would personally of preferred for a touch more seasoning on the fish, but partnered with the hazelnut crust it was simply amazing. My partner had the Pork Tenderloin, with butternut purée, purple potato crisps and toasted pumpkin seeds. The pork was cooked perfectly, still juicy and nicely pink in the centre. It was a really well balanced dish with each element bringing something different to the plate in terms of taste and texture. Visually it was beautiful to look at too! To finish we had the chocolate Mille Feuille served with a caramel sauce. Perfectly thin, crisp pastry with a dense, rich chocolate filling. It was the perfect way to finish the meal. Normally I don’t go into this much detail for reviews on Tripadvisor, but the meal and service really were outstanding and it deserves the credit. Thank you L’Epicure for such a fantastic meal in Lille to celebrate my birthday weekend. We will definitely be back and will be recommending you to our friends and family.
Very friendly staff and simply excellent food! A bit out of Lille, but parking not a problem. The goats cheese and figs starter was the best I had in a long time and the two mains of pork and beef were fabulous. For desert the...cafe ou the tres tres gourmande was delicious, but the chocolate millefeuil with caramel was simply the best! Highly recommended and do make sure you make a booking!
