The appetizers, AKA the flavor superheroes, included mamposteao balls and pastelillos that made taste buds break into a happy dance. Now, the sides were the chill cousins at the food party pasta and potatoes keeping it cool, nothing too wild. But then, enter the pizza argento, armed with an oregano bazooka. It went full Italian Spice Wars and left us wondering if we accidentally stumbled into a pizza cologne factory. So close to a five star rating, yet that oregano overload was the pizza 's way of saying, I 'm the real rockstar here!
I am leaving this place very upset. I have a service dog as I have a disability. As I walked in the door, the waiter only offered my outside seating. Mind you it was raining I asked to see a manager as I am allowed by law to sit inside and the manager expressed that I am only allowed to sit outside as he doesn't want to bother other patrons of the restaurant just in case someone doesn't like a dog. I expressed he is not a pet and is a service animal. I offered to show disability paperwork, which I don't have to, but I carry with me as an opportunity to educate people on service animals and my rights. I will be reporting this restaurant and taking the necessary steps to ensure that they are well educated on this matter.
I went on a date for the first time with my partner since we moved to PR not long ago and we decided to go to this restaurant since it was close to our home, we got there and we get seated and we only got one menu given to us, and we are a party of 2, we overlooked that, we then Order 2 mojitos which just tasted like ok, I've had better mojitos in San Juan, then my partner order an appetizer for himself which it was a chorizo and cheese empanada...that took over 20 min for him to have it. Then for our main course we waited over 40 min for that...keep in mind, the restaurant is NOT PACKED!! There were MANY tables available so I didn't understand why it took so long, also I felt like other tables were giving much of a better service than we were given. Our server barely checked on us to see how our drinks or our food was and we just felt so uncomfortable being there surrounded by so many pretentious people which were getting a much better service than we were getting. Our food tasted ok, I order a Pizzeta Margherita and I feel it was an appetizer by the size, just very average. and to just finish this, I wouldn't have posted this review if the table with a party of like 15 people that were seating next to us didn't got their food before us, and we were at the table already way before them.
Great restaurant. One of my favorites while visiting here for vacation. Alejandra was great at taking my to go orders and as a waitress when dining in their outdoor patio. Food is great. Love their 8 oz churrosco with Parmesan risotto on the side- only $22!. Also option for 12 oz. Got it done medium which was perfectly cooked. They knew my name after doing takeout so much while here lol. Not too crowded and lot of socially distanced tables inside with several rooms during the pandemic. The hostess and waiters wear masks which I appreciated when not required in Puerto Rico.
Three of us had Lunch here midweek. The menu is in Spanish and there is no English menu. Thank God for Yelp and photos!! There were a few specials. The place was relatively empty but the weather was terrible and I suspect it is usually busier. For my lunch, I ordered two appetizers: the ahi tuna avocado tartare and the ceviche. Both were huge and each one would have been enough food. The ahi tuna avocado tartare had a cream drizzled on it and sat on a bed of seaweed. I didn't eat the seaweed and tried to work around the mayo ketchup combo sauce. Both the tuna and avocado were fresh and delicious. It was served with pork rind chips. The ceviche had a sweet chili sauce and was a good compliment to my other fish. It was served with plantain chips. My friends each got the salmon and said it was good. I ended with an espresso that hit the spot.
