Perfect place for a quiet evening away from the the crowd at Vieux Porte. Lucky to find it on Thursday evening (only day open for dinner) Madame was very helpful with my daughter in law’s allergy restrictions. Food was delicious and fresh. We had the 3 course meal for a reasonable price . Will definitely come back
We found this gem as it was close to where we were staying. It's away from the main area down a quiet street which is perfect and there is seating inside and out. We have been going to la rochelle every year for the last 9 years in June for the music festival so know the town quite well and we all agreed it is the best restaurant by far that we've eaten in in that time. The owner is Sonia and she's only been open for just over a month. The chef is so talented in his knowledge of food and experimenting with flavours that you'd expect from a Michelin star restaurant. The fois gras starter is so unusual you'd think it was a dessert. I'm coeliac and we had messaged in advanced to check I'd be able to eat safely. You can never be quite sure in France as some restaurants are so arrogant you're left eating salad!!! We ate two courses each and had one dessert. We were also given a little amuse bouche when we arrived while waiting for our starters to be cooked.Every mouthful was sublime. I could go on and on but advise any reader to try it for yourself. You will not be disappointed.
Extremely friendly hosts (the chef will come visit your table to make sure everything is to your liking) who listen closely to your preferences and offer a delightful and savory meal for the whole family. Our six-year old loved the steak haché-frites and the chocolate mousse (10 euros) and appreciated the strawberry candy they through in at the end just to make him happy. They also kindly swapped out the sirop for a juice. Great selection of drinks and good recommendations for pairing on their part, as well as terrific desserts--one of the best chocolate mousse and creme brûlée we've had in a long time. It's in a quieter neighborhood, which beats the hectic summer crowds and allows the hosts to be more focused on their customers. A terrific meal in every way!
We popped in for lunch, my mother is a vegetarian and usually the only option is a basic salad. They were very accommodating and they gave her a huge plate of fresh salad and vegetables. It looked amazing. We had the beef brochette which was delicious and the chips were handmade not from a packet. Staff were very friendly, atmosphere was good and it was off the tourist trail. We would definitely return when in the area again.
