Sunflower Natural Foods - Laconia

This place is a spacious venue with a diverse selection of food, health products, and household items. The staff is also amazing. Don't forget to try the incredibly tasty vegan chocolate caramel ice cream cone.

In Laconia, a natural grocery store? I've always had great experiences at Sunflower. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. It's a bit on the pricey side, but that's to be expected for a natural grocery store. It's small, but if you ask the staff, they can order what you need. We've done this a few times for items we couldn't find elsewhere. And they even have vegan marshmallows! Enough said.

Sunflower Natural Foods is located near downtown Laconia, in a great location. It's a little business, and probably the only one like it in Laconia. I like the opportunity to buy products, frozen goods, and a book / gift from the gift shop area on the back. They stopped a few times. The staff was very helpful. The signs over the store warn you not to steal, not to take testers, are a bit much. But I never had a problem with the staff. The selection is small, but it is the only store as it is in the area and is worth when you are in the city.

I have been a loyal customer of Sunflower Natural Foods for several years and have always felt good about supporting this local business. Despite being a member of the Co op in Concord, I always chose to shop at Sunflower first. However, my loyalty was tested today. One of the employees, who seemed to think she owned the place, was incredibly rude to my 17-year-old daughter this afternoon. When we were looking at shampoos and my daughter tried to smell one by opening the cap (a reasonable thing to do), the employee scolded her, saying "Don't do that! Now the product is compromised and we can't sell it! If it doesn't say 'tester', don't touch it!" She then snatched the bottle off the shelf without apologizing, making a scene in front of other customers. My daughter was mortified. I understand the importance of keeping products in good condition, but my daughter is not the type to damage or misuse items that are not testers. She is actually one of the most respectful teenagers I know (and I teach high school, so I would know). In today's world, respectful teenagers are hard to come by, so it was extremely frustrating to see her treated this way. The employee's behavior was elitist and unacceptable, especially in a natural grocery store. In this tough economy, loyal customers are valuable and should be treated with respect. As a former customer of Sunflower Natural Foods, I will be taking my business to Concord in the future, where the selection is better anyway.
