We had two burgers, half a shrimp po' boy, and half a muffuletta, plus a bunch of appetizers: a large order of mozzarella sticks (eight in total), a big order of fried pickles, a large order of fries, and a small serving of red beans and rice. We ended up with so many leftovers! Two of us couldn't finish our sandwiches, while the other two were stuffed from theirs. The batter used for the fried shrimp and fried pickles was amazing—crispy, well-seasoned, and it adhered perfectly to the food. I'd compare it to Popeye's chicken batter! These are definitely the best fried pickles I've ever had! The fried mozzarella sticks (despite my homemade doubts) and the mozzarella in the muffuletta featured high-quality cheese that was wonderfully gooey. The burgers were well-seasoned, and I think they used Tony's seasoning. The tea was delicious too! This has quickly become my new favorite restaurant, and I can't wait to explore more of the menu.
Now, regarding Acadian PoBoys, let’s start with the atmosphere. It’s your typical small Cajun Po-Boy restaurant: fresh and clean, making it a perfect spot for a quick lunch if you’re short on time. The woman at the counter was very warm and welcoming, but her being Asian made me a bit uncertain about the authenticity of the Cajun cuisine. She asked if I’d like to pay for my order upfront or wait until I finished. If I had been dining with a large group, I might have preferred to wait to better judge the tip amount, but I decided to pay right away and left a standard tip. One item on the menu caught my eye: the Alligator sausage Po-Boy. I opted for the six-inch sandwich with unsweetened tea. The typical fixings are salad, mustard, and mayonnaise, but I chose to skip the mustard and go with just the salad and mayonnaise. This was my second time trying the Alligator sausage Po-Boy, and I was nervous since my first experience had been so excellent. That first taste was during the Franklin Bear Festival when a young man served it from a tent. My food arrived quickly, which was expected since it was after 2:00 PM. As soon as I took my first bite, it felt like I was back at the Bear Festival. You might think a festival’s food wouldn’t be that impressive, but I can assure you that my first experience was fantastic. It tasted just as good as I remembered. The bun was light, flaky, and slightly crispy—exactly how it should be. The Alligator sausage was delicious as well. For those hesitant to try it, I’d say it has a medium to heavy flavor; it's a well-seasoned Cajun sausage. I decided to eat quickly because I knew I would definitely want another one if I didn’t—and I’m trying to watch my health. The bread really made the sandwich shine, even though the sausage was excellent too. I’m curious to try the roasted or grilled shrimp Po-Boy next. You can tell a good shrimp Po-Boy by the absence of any iodine smell or taste, indicating the shrimp is properly prepared. The only reason I gave this place a 4.5 is that I didn’t try everything on the menu. I’ll be back to see if they can earn a higher rating next time, and I promise to bring photos with me!
The best fried shrimp plate I've ever had! The shrimp were incredibly fresh, peeled and deveined right on site. The service was outstanding as well!
Day of shrimp. Yeah, better than old Tyrus! Every time I want a Po boy, I remember this place! The sandwiches are amazing! Everyone goes to the old tyme because it's college. Leave her! You don't know what they miss! and the hot sausage sandwich is so good! I really miss this place! Here!
I live very close to this place so whenever I'm not feeling like being healthy I'll get a burger from here because seriously: best burger in Lafayette. Doesn't taste frozen; so incredibly good. The fries are nothing to write home about and the onion rings are okay. Never tried the poboy but I've never been a huge fan of poboys anyway. This place really gives you your money's worth. The pork chops are good and HUGE. Red beans are a little more bland than I like. Gumbo's pretty delicious. I usually call in orders and I've never waited longer than 15 minutes. The lady who answers the phone knows my voice now and always tries to guess what I'm going to get; 99%of the time that's a burger. Because yeah, it's that good. Try it. You won't be disappointed.
