Sunrise Diner - Lafayette

If you visited this place 30 years ago, you would notice that not much has changed, and that's likely because there's no need to. The portions are generous, and the breakfast is delicious. With only eight seats and one bathroom, it's quite cozy. The service is outstanding. This is an excellent spot for a casual meeting, a fun night out, or just to enjoy a cup of coffee and a bite to eat.

About 9 or 10 years ago, I lived in the city center and was on the job hunt. One of the places I applied to was this restaurant. I had the chance to speak with the owner and asked if I could fill out an application. He requested that I submit it on paper, and when I asked to borrow a pen or pencil, he shot me a disdainful look, as if to say, "You're looking for a job and you don't even have a pen?" It struck me as incredibly arrogant. I left without completing the application because I couldn't see myself working for someone like that. Even now, a decade later, I still remember that encounter vividly. The owner’s arrogance has kept me from dining here ever since. Why would I want to support someone who behaves that way?

I would give one star for the service, which was decent. However, the food was the worst breakfast I've ever had. I'm not sure if they pay for five-star reviews or if I just caught them on a particularly bad day. The omelet was incredibly bland, the hash browns were undercooked and cold, and the biscuits were so dry they tasted like wet flour. I won't be returning, and I can't say much positive about this place unless you don’t mind lackluster food. The waitress was a bit reserved but beautiful and attentive. I genuinely wished the food had been better, as I love breakfast. I usually avoid posting negative reviews online, but this experience was really disappointing.

Only one waited in this busy restaurant, and she never seemed to hurry, she took her time to answer questions we had. Perfect service, delicious food, great coffee!!!! I'll go back when I'm in the area!!

Exactly what you would expect and want from a diner. Good food, friendly staff, and interesting stuff on the walls. For the reviews that complain about cash only or ATM, I?m not sure how many more signs they could have about it being a cash only place. Food was very reasonably priced, sausage gravy was made fresh (as advertised), eggs were done over medium as asked (hard to get sometimes), and it came out fast. Only critique was the biscuit was just ok, I?ve had better.
