The room was not clean fingerprints on mirrors, cereal under the table, sticky sh all over the chair. I am not a breakfast eater but I do rely on a steady supply of coffee. There was a single coffee carafe for the solid booked hotel. There was ZERO coffee the first morning at 7 am. I had to go to the nearby Starbucks. On the 2nd morning, I was able to get a full cup of coffee at 7:45 but there was none left when I went back at 9:00.
Even though this is relatively new, it's already older looking. You know you are in trouble when the claim to fame is walking distance to a Cracker Barrel. (No, I did not visit Cracker Barrel. It's clean and cheap and I will admit the staff is super friendly. But some of our group has stayed in other places in the area and wouldn't come here again. The air conditioners in the room are really noisy and turn on and off constantly. Since the one in the bedroom is aimed right at your bed, you are sometimes overcome with Mr. Freeze. It's not horrible, but I gave the benefit of the doubt because of the free breakfast, the inexpensive price and the employees that work here.
Breakfast cafe is alright. But my experience was terrible. I'm my room there was a stink bug. A drawer handle was broken. The TV won't turn on. The AC won't turn on. And it's hot.
The staff is super friendly. The door latch didn 't exist. The hotel smells like stale old musty carpet from an out of date motel (it is). The furniture was dingy and dirty from decades ago.... The refrigerator leaked and the dishwasher was about to come out of the cabinets. Oh the dishwasher was disgusting. I ran it three times before I felt comfortable using it. There was a big giant stadium light right into my window. The pool smelled over chlorination. The gym still had treadmills with the old iPod connectors which would be fine but all the connections were rusted over and didn 't seem to get television. The breakfast had old bananas and apples they probably should throw away wrapped. Saw a lot of bruising and soft spots through the plastic wrap. Not the hotels fault but the customers were all coughing and so was the staff... the latter sounded like smokers cough and the other customers I don 't know. The bright side was also a down side. They are apparently aware and they are under construction. The floors were updated and they were closing entrances...it would have been nice to have a heads up as I 've seen other hotels tell people. The floors were nice except I had to walk on them to get to dining area and front desk (per employee instructions) to walk past the tape and on top of newly laid tiles (fresh with separators). This is the worst Marriott property I 've ever stayed at. I 've been to some really crappy areas too. This is the worst hotel I stayed at except the one time we couldn 't find a place in New Orleans (we were broke) and the hotel had hourly rates or the time I was in Costa Rica and again we were broke. Both places had stains on their sheet and I felt dirtier after a shower than before. It 's that low, it 's one notch above those places so firmly in the bottom 3. Again, staff was friendly. Water was hot. Really hot that I turned it half way and it was still too hot for me. Not complaining as I 've been to hotels with no hot water (Costa Rican hotel mentioned above at bottom 2). Many places that run out in the morning. The good: friendly staff hot water they 're renovating mostly decent internet The bad: all the stuff above prices weren 't even decent. I should have paid the extra $10 per day to go to Courtyard but I wanted a kitchen and Residence Inn was way more. You could say I got what I paid for but it was my insistence to staying at a Marriott branded hotel. Next time I 'll know to say screw elite status and points and book at an IHG or Hilton property.
I was lied to when I was told I would be getting deposit within seven days! I'm tired of being lied to! Dirty rooms dirty staff horrible prices!
