Bin 189 - Lake Arrowhead

As DAS Resort des Seepfeilers, I came here for Sunday brunch (no buffet) after reading some good reviews. Overall, I have been quite disappointed both by food and service. $16 for pancakes??? even with view (nice, though modest terrace with limited lake view), I could not just justify the money. my pancakes were burned on the outside, and muddy inside. And our server, as beautiful as he was, was incredible MIA and slow. It felt like an eternity waiting for our food. I wish I could say I would come back, but also with the beautiful lake view and terrace, I just have to disappoint to want to return.

Bin 189 is located within the Arrowhead resort Lake – a posh hotel right on the edge of the lake. The restaurant is decorated in a similar way to the rest of the hotel, which is an outdoor/native American motif. There is a nice lounge area with a full bar, fireplace and sometimes live music and there is also a decent large terrace that has about 6 tables of 4 overlooking the beautiful lake. I had some high expectations for this fine dining room, which required reservations for sunny brunch and has only parking (we went from our cheaper bed breakfast on the street). The menu had a great culinary experience with one of the breakfasts, even with a combination of shrimp and caviar. But when everything was said and done, I was disappointed with my overall experience. The easiest way to write it is with a list of balls: Positive Great view of the lake. You ran out of French bread (and therefore French toast and monte cristo) at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday brunch – how is it possible at all? Did someone come in the morning and order all the French toast? What a terrible planning. The waiter had to come back again and again because he had forgotten to ask me questions about my order. When the food was brought out, the servers did not know who had what (from other tables). This is usually not the case in a beautiful restaurant – they are usually smart enough to find out. 3 other tables around us had complaints about food and/or service, with one of the tables getting an item from the bill and another table that sends a pasta dish back to be sticky. Lemons Ricotta pancakes for $16? Oh, and they were a very strange mushy texture that should be normal. Very slow. Our breakfast took 30 minutes to come to us. Breakfast is usually quite fast. It is a good thing that there was a beautiful view or I would have been more upset. You made our reservation wrong. Valet parking if they have a large amount that it does not require.

We had a phenomenal birthday dinner here with friends. They made us feel like VIP. Tyler made our night fun and memorable. He had great recommendations on wine, entrees, and dessert. Loved every moment. Atmosphere was lovely.

This restaurant is amazing! I wish I would have tried it sooner. My favorite dish is the Filet Mignon. The steak is so amazing, it melts in your mouth. The ambiance is incredible as well. Every table has a view of the lake, its truly a great dining experience. A hidden treasure.

We went for dinner, and to the bar, the vibe is very mellow. However, the bar service is extremely slow. There is no urgency with the bartender. It took a little over 25 minutes to get my drinks order, and it was not even busy. However, when we dine in for dinner, our server was very prompt and Friendly.
