Second and last time patronizing this establishment. Food is EXTREMELY subpar. The chicken appears to be Tyson Grilled and Ready from Kroger and the salsa is definitely giving Tostitos. And please don’t get me started on the watered down “cheese dip”. Never again! Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Taco Mel is by far our favorite place to get actual Mexican food in Lake Charles. It’s a no-nonsense taco joint with better prices than Taco Bell. You walk in, tell them you want sautéed onions and veggies on your taco, then make it yourself. If it doesn’t taste good, it’s probably your own fault. We love love the barbacoa tacos and quesadilla, but it’s hard to go wrong here. It’s honestly probably the best thing Chuck has since we don’t have a Chipotle or Izzo’s but we’ll still be coming back here even when those pop up (probably never though).

The first time there and the food was delicious! I have two shrimps with onions and peppers. You add your own toppings for the salad bar area. Anyway, it'll be back.

Shrimp tacos and quesadillas are amazing. Definitely recommend. Eat twice, in less than 10 minutes, even if it was filled.
