Sushi Kushi Toyo - Lake Forest

Subpar sushi (dry rice, not fresh ingredients) for a premium price — paid about $100 for 7 rolls but should’ve just gotten gas station sushi for $30 instead.

The sushi was fresh and amazing! Will definitely come back. The waitress was super nice and helped us when we didn’t know what to order. She showed us the picture menu. She even told us that the sushi bar was getting busy so if we want to order we should order it now so we can get it quicker.

Recently we went to Sushi Kushi Toyo in Lake Forest for lunch and had terrible experience. It was not busy during our lunch. Our waiter was doing a little cleaning with broom and dustpan at reception area. When he served us water, I noticed he was holding cap with hands touching top part (edge) of the cups. Fresh eel is better than anything when done right. They make it perfect!

Some of the nigiri and gunkan sushi were very very salty, not sure if we had an unlucky batch or if they hired a new chef recently. Service was pretty slow too.
