Southern Cafe - Lakewood

The food was absolutely delicious. The catfish was perfectly seasoned and not at all greasy. The sweet potatoes, scalloped potatoes, red beans and rice, and french fries were all fantastic! The cobbler was loaded with fruit and had a delightful crust, making it a wonderful finish to an impressive meal. Lisa provided excellent service. As a Chicagoan, I will definitely be coming back!

I can’t believe I overlooked this hidden gem in my own neighborhood! The food was exactly what we were looking for—absolutely delicious—and the service was warm and friendly. I enjoyed a generous bowl of their Shrimp Grits appetizer along with some catfish fingers, but the highlight for me was the grape Kool-Aid mixed with lemonade; it instantly brought me back to my childhood. They do offer dine-in seating, and my only recommendation would be to enhance the atmosphere by rearranging the space a bit. Nevertheless, I will definitely return for the blackened catfish and collard greens!

This delightful little restaurant offers the best soul food I've discovered in Lakewood and the West End of Cleveland. I tried the Perch dinner, which was served with collard greens and macaroni and cheese. The prices are quite reasonable, the portions are generous, and the service is outstanding!

After raving about The Southern Cafe to my partner for years, we finally made the trip (not from the greater Cleveland area). I'm pleased to report that it exceeded our expectations. The staff were fantastic, and the food was outstanding. The restaurant and restrooms were both very clean. I would highly recommend it; definitely a 10/10!
